Formal thanks for rates committee

CASEY Council will thank Casey Community Rate Review Committee members with a formal mayoral reception for their work.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford gained unanimous support for the function during the Monday 30 October special council meeting.
He said committee members had contributed considerable time and work over nearly a year.
Balla Balla Ward councillor Colin Butler, who first asked for the committee to be established, said he did not expect the document to be so extensive.
“Members of the committee saw this work as setting this council on the way for the future,” he said.
“They will be disappointed with the result of tonight’s special meeting, but they felt they had to get things right, and they did.
“They have done magnificent work and I hope they will accept this invitation to attend the recognition function.”
Edrington Ward councillor Mick Morland said the council had virtually decided to employ a consultant to revisit the work, but a consultant would provide a report that was from an independent body.
