Garfield won a hardfought match against an extremely talented opposition. Jackie Collis played her usual steady game, using skill and maturity to overcome her younger opponent. She was aptly supported by Di Collis, who combined strategic positioning to win the ball in the goal ring with accurate shooting. Emma Marsh and Helen Collis, alternating in wing attack and centre, were strong and determined and Heath Mills and Lauren Soumilas dominated the goalers from Warragul and stopped their usual freedom in the goal ring.
Scores: Garfield 32 d Warragul 29.
Awards: Garfield Hotel Erin Barcley, Shapes Gym Warragul Lauren Soumilas.

Garfield achieved the desired win. Natalie Van Der Pas and Casey Robson applied a tight defensive game and limited Warragul’s goalers. Sally Harper alternated with Danae Jolly in wing attack and created many attacking plays for the goalers. Becky Hower goaled accurately.

The team played an extremely experienced and talented Warragul side but the team should not be disappointed with their efforts. Megan Boland played strongly in wing defence with a matchwinning effort. Jodie Vugs played superbly as goal shooter before taking up the centre position and then coming off due to injury. Kelly McMillan again demonstrated her strength and dominance at goal defence and is developing into a key defensive player.
Scores: Warragul 62 d Garfield 9.
Awards: Best on court Megan Boland, Hungry Jack’s Pakenham Jodie Vugs, Blockbuster Video Kelly McMillan.

Garfield played well despite the strength displayed by Warragul. Kassie Burge and Hayley Wright continue to be strong in defence creating turnovers and being the ball down the court. Jessie Scamporlino, Bianca Henwood and Katie O’Dea combined to deliver a number of great passages of play into the goal ring. Brooke Cousin and Bianca Collis worked together well in the goal ring before a change to the lineup at halftime. Brooke Cousin and Jessie Scamporlino swapped roles as centre and goaler to give additional drive and support.
Scores: Warragul 35 d Garfield 10.

Despite taking a while to settle, Garfield played four consistent quarters. Brittany Taylor played a great game at both ends, intercepting passes and attacking the ball. Bec Singleton is developing into a fine goal attack, gaining confidence in her natural ability and contributing well to the attack end. Narelle Van Der Pas was again strong in defence and Lucy Wheeler used her height to score a number of intercepts. Tamara Monson again proved versatile player. Tegan Chick played strongly in wing defence while Emma Masal’s skills and contribution continued to improve.
