High five for Drouin

IT was a clean sweep for Drouin Netball Club against Morwell on Saturday, cementing all six of its teams in the top five.

A GRADE

Drouin was on top from the first whistle and dominated throughout the game.
Its allcourt defence gave the goalers Keira Rees (GS) and Kylie Proctor (GA) plenty of opportunities. Tania McLeish stepped up to A grade and played a strong game.
With a comfortable lead, Drouin gave the opportunity to its young guns to get a taste of senior netball. Lauren Ablett, Stacie Proctor, Kelly Hedley and Lisa Watson all made their Agrade debut.
With increased intensity, Drouin lifted its scoring rate with the youngsters keen to make their mark.
A veteran at 20, Amy Fraser, led the way with some consistent, strong play.
Scores: Drouin 58 d Morwell 19.

B GRADE

Drouin was dominant from the start and too quick and strong for the opposition, showing its versatility through the midcourt and trying different combinations.
With Kelly Bethune starring in the centre in the final quarter, the team finally found the balance it had been searching for.
Scores: Drouin 64 d Morwell 7.
Award winner: Ally Henderson – Drouin Amcal Chemist.

C GRADE

Drouin played a great team game. Tania Lissenden (GS) was a focal point in attack, moving well and goaling accurately.
Bronwyn Edwards and Millie Westhead were tall and strong in defence, making the Morwell goalers work hard for every goal.
Scores: Drouin 55 d Morwell 5.

17 AND UNDER

Drouin played a strong first quarter, but still had lapses of concentration throughout the game.
With many positional changes, Drouin proved to be extremely versatile. Ally McArthur dominated at wing attack, feeding goalers Ebony Dunne and Nicky Bryce superbly.
Another strong team performance.
Scores: Drouin 52 d Morwell 10.

15 AND UNDER

In a physical contest, Drouin remained composed and kept the scoreboard ticking over.
Caitlin Bills (WA) drove well through the midcourt, fed the goalers well and the defenders did a top job bringing the ball from defence to attack.
Alisha Bills (GD) was dominant and also enjoyed her chance in goals in the final quarter. Jess Hedley played a strong game when moved into the centre with her defensive work outstanding. Larissa Smethurst (GK) was relentless, significantly restricting Morwell’s scoring.
Scores: Drouin 29 d Morwell 2.
Award winner: Alisha Bills Warragul Leisure Centre.

13 AND UNDER
