Keeping the kids occupied

KEEPING teenagers entertained during the school holidays is always high on the agenda for many busy parents.
Cardinia Shire youth services have put together eight actionpacked days full of awesome activities for young people aged 12 to 17.
During the first week of the school holidays Cardinia Shire Youth Services is providing young people in the shire the opportunity to get active, stay healthy and enjoy freestyle skateboard spots in a safe and wellmanaged environment.
Beginner and intermediate to advanced coaching sessions for skateboarders, as well as free skate time with two experienced skateboarding instructors, began on Monday and continue until Friday at Pakenham Skate Park, John Street, Pakenham.
The skate activities are free, but enrolments are required for the beginner and intermediate to advanced coaching sessions.
Beginner sessions are from 10.30am to 11.30am and intermediate to advanced sessions are from 1pm to 2pm daily and limited places apply. Free skate with two qualified instructors is available from 11.30am to 12.30am and 2pm to 3pm daily.
For more details about the coaching sessions and enrolment information contact Tara Stokes, Cardinia shire youth services officer on 5945 4307.
During the second week of the school holidays, Cardinia shire youth services has tailored some school holiday activities that are exciting, adventurous and a great price, as well as being supervised by youth workers.
The fun starts with a trip to Luna Park on Tuesday, 27 September, for only $20.35 for 13 years and over, and $14.35 for 12 years. Young people get three hours of unlimited rides and McDonalds for lunch (bring own money).
The excitement continues with a trip to the movies and amusement arcade at Fountain Gate.
This activity is on Wednesday, 28 September and costs only $21 for one hour of unlimited video games and one new release movie at the cinemas.
Finish the holidays with the ever popular experience of horse riding at Phillip Island. This adventurous day includes a onehour trail ride and access to the giant swing, the wildlife park and volleyball.
This activity costs $39 and participants must bring their own packed lunch and wear long pants and heeled shoes.
There are a number of bus pickup and dropoff points throughout the shire. Bookings are essential and are taken up until 11am, Friday 23 September at the latest, places permitting.
Contact Cardinia shire youth services on 5945 4307 during business hours for more information and booking forms.
