Lyall Road set for upgrade

CASEY Council has adopted a plan to upgrade Lyall Road, Berwick between High and Brisbane Streets.
In a report to the council, Casey engineering manager David Richardson said work would involve a divided fourlane road, drainage, landscaping, street lighting and intersection modifications, including left turn lanes into abutting roads.”
Mr Richardson said 68 deciduous trees would be planted, but 19 existing trees would have to be removed. An arborist’s report stated the trees listed for removal had no cultural or environmental value.
“A public consultation process resulted in a positive response, including feedback from the Berwick Village Chamber of Commerce and the owner of Berwick Marketplace,” Mr Ichardson said.
The work is expected to be finished before Christmas.
