Meeting pulls out all stops

COMMUTERS angry at plans to change train times in rural areas will meet with MPs to thrash out solutions to their problems.
Residents who rely on a peak hour VLine service from the city to get home to Nar Nar Goon, Garfield, Tynong and other country areas have been called to a meeting in Bunyip this Thursday, 7 September.
State Government Parliamentary Secretary for Innovation and Industry Matt Viney and Narracan MP Ian Maxfield have called the meeting on behalf of Transport Minister Peter Batchelor.
Mr Viney said the meeting would review potential options with the train service in a bid to ease concerns of local commuters. The MPs will take recommendations from the meeting back to Mr Batchelor.
Residents in country areas are angry at proposed changes to train services along the Gippsland line.
VLine has said the changes were part of significant improvements and upgrades along the line. But residents from Nar Nar Goon to Longwarry have strongly opposed plans to cut seven local stops from V/Line’s daily peak hour service out of the city. The meeting will be held at the Bunyip Hall at 7.30pm.
