I ALWAYS enjoy seeing young people experience success, whether in sport or in their career pursuits.
One pathway to success for students in this region is the City of Casey Australia Day Youth Tour Award.
Students with a demonstrated interest in politics are each Australia Day presented with the award that takes them into our three seats of power.
The award goes back more than two decades and we now see some of the early winners in government.
The students, as part of their award, are guests of the City of Casey for a day and are invited to dinner with the councillors.
They then spend time at a council meeting.
They spend a day at Parliament House, Melbourne, where their parliamentary representative meets them and, if possible, will introduce them to the premier.
They spend three days in Canberra where they visit Parliament House and, if possible, meet the Prime Minister.
They are then taken to other important places of interest in the capital.
This program is a good investment in our youth.
Program gets my vote
