Sorrow over girl’s death

By Callan Date and Sarah Schwager
TWO sporting clubs have joined the outpouring of sympathy to the family of a sixyearold girl who was hit by a car and killed last Thursday.
This week mourners flocked to the site where Logan Harris died outside her Warneet Road home in Blind Bight.
In a shocking twist, the family, including parents Kelly and Troy Harris and brother Baiden, 9, were set to move to Cranbourne the next day to escape the busy stretch of road.
Neighbours were still struggling this week to come to terms with the loss of Logan, who they say had never before strayed from her front gate.
Logan’s father and her uncle Luke have close ties to several sporting clubs in the area.
Both men played for Catani Cricket Club last summer and Logan’s father was coach of the football club in 2001.
Cricket club secretary Bruce McFarlane said the brothers are highly respected players at the club.
“They played cricket at Catani last year and we are all certainly thinking of the family during this tough time,” Mr McFarlane said.
The Cora Lynn football and netball clubs also expressed their condolences to the family.
Other community members have come together to raise money for the Logan family.
Inbeauty, Taco Bill, Berwick Massage, Hairko and The Corner Post in Beaconsfield, as well as Cranbourne Fishing Tackle in Cranbourne and Shanikas in Berwick, have donated gift vouchers and other items for a raffle.
The raffle was organised by close friends of the family, Brett Burros and Amanda Georgaras, who works at Hairko Studio in Beaconsfield.
Police are continuing their investigations into the incident.
