GARFIELD Football Club members will meet in three weeks to decide where the club will play next season and beyond.
The meeting will be closed to all except financial members and a decision will be made whether to remain in the West Gippsland Latrobe Football League or pursue a transfer to the neighbouring Ellinbank and District Football League.
The possibility of playing in the MPNFL Casey Cardinia League was also discussed by the club’s subcommittee, but president Judy Bishop said recently that under no circumstances would the Stars give up their country status to play what she described as ‘suburban’ football.
It is believed that three speakers from each side (EDFL and WGLFL) will give their views on the merits of voting each way and then a vote will be taken.
If Garfield members vote for a transfer to the EDFL, an application to join the new league will be made via the Victorian Country Football League and VCFL area manager Shaun Connell will oversee the process in liaison with both leagues and the club.
