Beacy’s super slump

BEACONSFIELD Superules divisionone side ended the season on a low note at the weekend, copping a football lesson from Greensborough.
With two players pulling out of the side, Beaconsfield was on the back foot early with Greensborough dominating play and constantly going into attack.
Sloan got plenty of the ball, however his efforts went unrewarded as Beaconsfield struggled to get the ball into its forward line.
In the second term, Beaconsfield started winning the ball from the midfield, however scoring was limited with Dunne unable to move freely at fullforward due to hamstring problems. Mickelburough put in a solid performance on the wing, however it was Greensborough that was doing the majority of the attacking and had a handy fivegoal lead at the main break.
The third term started well for Beaconsfield as McGavigan won the ruck duals and when a good passage of play was finished off with a goal, by the late inclusion of Colin Hamilton, Beaconsfield looked like mounting a charge.
Treasure presented well across centre halfforward and gave Beaconsfield a good target up forward.
Midway through the third term Sloan was sent from the ground for an alleged striking incident and Beaconsfield was unable to replace him.
At the last change Beaconsfield was still behind by six goals and faced an impossible task of bridging the gap, but performed well with the players available on the day.
Vandenberghe, Stacey, Abel and Hotham in the backline all played credible games, while Treasure and Turner up forward tried hard, however Greensborough was too strong and ran out comfortable winners.
Scores: Beaconsfield 7.4.46 lost to Greensborough 13.16.94. Goals: Turner 2, Treasure, Dunne, C. Hamilton, Sloan and Sheedy, 1. Best: Treasure, McGavigan, Sloan, Sheedy, Mickelburough.
