Boy escapes wreckage

AN 11YEAROLD Lang Lang boy walked from the wreckage of a headon smash last Friday night to a nearby service station to raise the alarm.
A 38yearold Gurdies woman died later from injuries she received in the accident.
Police said the woman was driving a silver Ford sedan along McDonalds Track about 9.40pm when it and a blue Ford station wagon travelling in the opposite direction collided.
The woman was airlifted to The Alfred hospital but died a short time later.
She was the first person to die on Shire of Cardinia roads this year.
Shell service station staff member Doug Mitchell said one of the customers went to the boy’s aid and comforted him while a staff member called rescue services.
“Apparently he walked about 100 metres from the crash and was pretty upset and distressed when he arrived at the service station,” Mr Mitchell said.
The boy, a passenger in the sedan, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Dandenong Hospital.
A 52yearold Lang Lang man was cut free from the station wagon by emergency rescue workers and airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He was admitted with moderate injuries. Pakenham Police Sergeant Peter Garten said police were preparing a report for the coroner.
Seven people died on Cardinia roads last year.
