A HOMEMADE fire bomb that set fire to a Kooweerup shop could have caused much worse damage, Pakenham Police said.
Awnings at the chicken shop on Rossiter Road were set on fire between 9pm on 25 January and 7am on 26 January.
Police said a homemade fire bomb made out of a bed sheet had been thrown at the awning of the shop.
There was minor damage to the front of the shop and the awning.
Police said the fire could have been worse as there had been a twolitre gas bottle on the ground near the front of the shop.
Anyone who heard or saw anything suspicious at the time of the incident should contact Pakenham CIU on 5941 1033 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
