GEMBROOKCockatoo’s under16 team visited Yarra Glen at the weekend and paid the penalty for not manning up, going down by 63 points
In the first quarter the Brookers were good and early passages of play looked promising, Tyson Edwards and Stuart Telpuk having a big impression on the game while Jason Bova, Brendan Power and Stephen Retzack read the play well.
In the second half, the Brookers did not man up properly and the opposition took advantage.
The positives to come out of the game were that the players were willing to share the ball around, smother and use impressive teamwork.

In a fine effort from every Gembrook player, the ball was moved quickly and efficiently to the forwards. Harley Wilson started the scoring in the first quarter. The Brookers showed good use of the body to win the ball from the centre and good support in the backline drove the ball forward.

The Brookers were under the pump early, but with excellent teamwork scored the first goal against the flow of play. The next two quarters were a battle of backlines under pressure, but the Brookers managed to take a slender lead into the last quarter.
The opposition ran out the game better and snatched victory. A great contribution came from all the under10 players.
