STAY or go – it’s a tough question for homeowners during bushfire season.
The Country Fire Authority (CFA) has warned that deciding to leave the home during a bushfire requires careful planning.
Heath HillYannathan captain Calvin Coghlan said leaving if a fire was close could be very dangerous.
“Smoke will make visibility poor and it is easy to lose your way,” he said.
“It can be difficult to work out which way the fire is heading and you won’t know about any spot fires that may have started.”
The CFA has encouraged people in areas of high fire risk to prepare a bushfire survival plan.
