A CHILDREN’S cubbyhouse was destroyed by fire on Sunday.
Firefighters from Cockatoo and Emerald CFA brigades attended the blaze, in Cockatoo, after receiving a call just after 5.30pm.
It is still unclear how the fire started.
Cockatoo CFA captain Steve Cameron said it took firefighters about 15 minutes to contain the flames.
CFA units remained at the scene for some time afterwards to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
Mr Cameron said the property owner initially feared his children were playing in the cubby house when the fire started.
He said that although units had little trouble putting the fire out, the situation could have been much worse.
“We were lucky that there was plenty of room we might have had trouble with access,” he said.
“It could also have spread quite easily.”
Mr Cameron said that with the summer fire season approaching it was vital residents took care to ensure their homes and properties were as protected as possible from fire.
