CHISHOLM Institute has joined the team running the second Edwin Flack Games.
A group of students has become involved with the 2006 Edwin Flack Games organising committee and will help with organisation and planning the games.
Casey Council is also providing strong support for the international sporting and cultural exchange with Casey’s sister city, Springfield, Ohio, US, and Friendship City, Ermera, East Timor. The games will be held from Wednesday, 21 June, to Saturday, 8 July.
The City of Casey, in partnership with the Friends of Ermera, launched a fundraising campaign late last year to enable a boys’ soccer team and a girls’ volleyball team to participate in the Games.
The main barrier to their participation is the financial cost for a contingent from Ermera in East Timor to travel to Casey.
Casey director of community services, Jennie Lee, said last week that enormous community support had been provided for the appeal.
