CARDINIA Agrade’s Luke Turner showed no mercy to his former team Tooradin with a bowlerslaughtering 108, helping the Bulls charge to a strong win on Saturday.
Cardinia amassed 343 in pursuit of Tooradin’s 171.
Mark Cooper (32) and John Nooy (51) put on 61 for the first wicket, their second best effort for the season.
Steve Paterson was again among the runs with a quickfire 47.
Jamie Glen (16) and Ben DaRose were at the crease when Cardinia passed the Seagulls’ total DaRose was out a short time later for 45.
Then it was Turner’s turn decimating his former team with the tonplus off just 56 balls.
This was Turner’s first century since he played for the Seagulls, in their under12 side.
Dwayne Doig also got a handy 27 notout in the same time it took Turner to make his century.
B GRADE
Chasing KilcundaBass’ 159 was done with relative ease on Saturday, thanks to an excellent team performance.
All the batsmen got starts Brodie Glen (32), Daniel Strahan (38), Ryan DeReus (23), Bradey Welsh (32) and Justin Vanderzalm 74.
The Bulls ended up making 261 against the Sharks to win by 102 runs.
D GRADE
Chasing Pakenham UpperToomuc’s 355 was always going to be an arduous task and Cardinia succumbed for 199 in its first innings.
Matthew Argoon (48) and Ricky Campbell (35) were the best of the batsmen.
Sent in for another hit, Cardinia made 161. Matt Hobson top scored with 75 and Argoon chipped in with another 20.
This left PUT needing seven runs to win from seven overs. It only required two to take maximum match points, defeating the Bulls outright.
E GRADE
Having already taken firstinnings points the previous week, Cardinia resumed at 8/114, batted on and got the score to 146 before being bowled out.
It then bowled Lang Lang out cheaply for 109.
Rob Baumgartner took 3/20, Brad Snooks and Matt Masin too two each, and Chris Lemmon one.
Needing only 47 for victory, Gary Quinlan and Gary Glen saw the score to 1/50 to take outright points.
UNDER 17
Cardinia compiled 3/173 the previous week with the bat and this week defended it well with the ball.
Damien Monckton was the best of the bowlers, taking 4/18 and he was well supported by Phil Strahan (2/29), Evan Webster (2/29) and Alex Nooy (1/9).
Nyora was all out for 153.
UNDER 15
Defending just 69, the Bulls were outclassed by Catani by 38 runs.
Glen Easton (3/16), Delvyn TraceyShaw (2/14), and Pat Nolan (2/17) were the main destroyers.
Chris Wirth, Travis Kitchin and Brett Venn all took one each in Catani’s total of 111.
Having another bat, Glen Easton (25) and Travis Kitchin (21) smashed 49 off just five overs.
CLUB NOTES
The annual Trivia Night was held on Saturday night at the Cardinia Public Hall.
It was described as a great night and victory was claimed by the Paterson table, finally knocking off the everdominant DaRose table.
Sponsors, donors and supporters of the night, especially the organising committee were thanked for their support.
