Club is on a roll says mayor

BERWICK Bowling Club officially opened its 2006/07 bowling season with a launch dinner in the clubrooms on Friday, 1 September and a day of bowling on Saturday, 2 September.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford commended the high quality of club facilities developed at the Edwin Flack Reserve.
Cr Bradford said he was amazed to hear of the enormous amount of concrete work that club members had done.
“You can see the real value of volunteer groups in community building when you visit this club.
“This is all about getting together in joint agreements to build facilities such as we have here.”
Cr Bradford officially declared the season open.
Club board of management chairman Brian Parry said the dinner was the new year’s eve of bowling and he wished to acknowledge the support and work of Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato and La Trobe MP Jason Wood received by the club.
“We also have received great news that the City of Casey will fund the sealing of our car park.
“The work is expected to be finished this summer.”
Mr Parry said the gifts were important aspects of all levels of government becoming involved in community development.
“We, in turn have a responsibility and we do this by teaching school children and making the facility available to our senior citizens,” he said.
“There is a huge social dimension here when you consider the voluntary labour that has gone into building this facility,” Mr Parry said.
