Eagles eye netball flag

THE inception of the CaseyCardinia Netball League this year has seen the fledgling MPNFL netball competition quickly grow in stature and standard.
The addition of seasoned clubs in ROC and Tooradin, together with Dingley setting up their first netball sides, gave the competition more teams and therefore more depth.
Leading clubs such as Pakenham and Beaconsfield had greater challenges, but the Eagles in particular rose to the occasion and will play newcomers ROC in this weekend’s Agrade grand final.
ROC made the premiership playoff with a great 20goal win over Hampton Park in last Sunday’s preliminary final and are in good form at the right time of year.
After going down to Pakenham last year, Beaconsfield coach Simon O’Shannesy was determined to make amends in 2005.
His talented team has been the frontrunner all year and will be shortpriced favourites to take the pennant on Saturday.
Teams from Beaconsfield will contest four of the six grand finals to be played with the Agraders joined by Bgrade against Dingley, Cgrade against Cranbourne and the 17andunder side pitted against Tooradin.
Pakenham’s 15andunder and 13andunder teams will play Tooradin for the pennants in both junior grades.
Officials have been pleased with the organisation of the netball league this season and expect competitive games in all grades on Saturday.
