RESIDENTS have been urged not to leave children unattended in cars.
The warning comes after Pakenham State Emergency Service members last week received three calls to help children locked in cars.
The call-outs were to Pakenham, Berwick and Narre Warren.
Each time, the children were released before the SES arrived.
SES spokesman Steve Munro said it was a risk to leave children in cars, even for just five minutes.
“We’re coming into summer and on a hot day it doesn’t take long for a car to get above 60 degrees,” Mr Monro said. “Temperatures like that with little children can have fatal consequences.”
