PAKENHAM’S A-grade batsmen took to Emerald’s attack on Saturday, ending the day with a competitive 238 runs.
Playing at home, Pakenham won the toss and elected to bat and it was a rocky start until Jason Williams and Daryl Rooks got the side back on track.
Andrew Cooper played well for 98 not out and took to the Emerald attack hitting to all parts of the ground.
Other scores were Williams 46, Gary Plunkett 31 in his debut and Rooks 20.

B GRADE

Nyora won the toss and put Pakenham in that failed to improve on last week’s form, being bowled out for 34.
Nick Sleep seven, Dave Searle seven and Trevor Williamson five not out.
Nyora went in to bat and put on 5/93 before it declared.
That put Pakenham in for its second innings.
Best bowlers: Marc Merrigan 3/22 off 12 overs. Pakenham ended the day at 3/27.

D GRADE

Kooweerup won the toss and put Pakenham into bat that got off to a shaky start with the score being 4/22 at one stage.
Jared Goldsack and Scott Webster put on a handy 54-run partnership.
The next partnership put on 58 with Scott Webster seeing the ball like a Sherrin.
The next two wickets fell for 30 runs and Pakenham was all out in the 48th over for 214.
Best batsmen were Webster 96 not out, Goldsack 31, Jeremy Darmody 27 and Brett Hogben 18.
Pakenham finished the day having Kooweerup on 3/47.
Best bowlers were Dennis Porter 2/4 off two overs, Graham McCraw 1/20 off seven overs.

F GRADE

F grade was a tied game because of the state of the ground.

UNDER 16

Pakenham, playing the top side Beaconsfield Bandits, made 137.
Pakenham got off to a slow but steady start and was 3/20 after 18 overs when Flynn Visser came in.
Chris Chilcott went out for 9 and Jack Ryan and Visser picked the run rate up until Visser was bowed for a good 17.
Ben Wood came in and went for four, Craig Hart then came in and with Jack Ryan put on 51 before the former was run out for a fine 17.
Jack Ryan batted sensibly to score a great 41 and was bowled on the last ball.
Pakenham fell 27 runs short with two wickets in hand.

UNDER 14

Upper Beaconsfield played Pakenham that was chasing 142 for victory.
Pakenham had a shaky start being 2/17 before a partnership by Luke Jackson and Daniel Doyle for 57.
Wickets then tumbled steadily and Pakenham fell short – all out for 128.
Best batsmen were Doyle 30 retired, Jackson 15 and B. Selby 10.

UNDER 12

Pakenham was chasing 86 for victory, having given Nyora 54 extras and won the game being bowled out for 107.
Nyora helped Pakenham with 57 extras.
Best of the batsmen were J. Davies 13, B. Stagg 12 and J. Muley 6.

The annual trophy (Steve Vivian Memorial) will be played at Devon Meadows on 26 November to 3 December when the presentation will be made.
