Regional juniors fly high

THE Region Eight under21 team scored a significant victory against the Gippsland regional Seven at Morwell last Sunday week.
The team had a record five representatives from the West Gippsland Cricket Association.
Region 8 dismissed Gippsland for 118.
Officer’s Brett Reid produced a brilliant matchwinning performance, scoring 30 and collecting 4/8 in an inspired burst of bowling.
His Bullant teammate, Chris Savage scored 15, Craig Lewis from Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll contributed 11, while the Kooweerup duo of Carl McGregor and Paul Bright both bowled tidy spells.
The Region 8 team passed the Gippsland score with nine wickets down.

WGCA SENIOR SQUAD

The association senior team to play the Yarra Valley at Yarra Valley on Sunday, 26 November will be selected from the following training squad.
Luke Sibley, Ryan O’Connor, Jason Dodd, Don Kerslake and Brad Miles (Beaconsfield), Mark Cooper, Luke Turner and Ben Da Rose (Cardinia), Lionel Sexton and Paul Govaars (Catani), Callum O’Hare (Clyde), Shaun White (Cranbourne Meadows), Darren O’Brien, Travis Canavan and Doug Louden (Devon Meadows).
Other selections are: Mark Alenson (Emerald), Paul Mohascy (KilcundaBass), Paul Bright and Carl McGregor (Kooweerup), Brett Whittingham and Shannon Mathers (Merinda Park), Brendan McGrath and Matt Lownds (Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll), Nick Fairbanks (Nyora), Daniel Savage, Brett Reid and Shane White (Officer), Trevor Johnston and Brenton Adams (Tooradin), Scott Pitcher and Richie Goodenough (Upper Beaconsfield).
Players from this squad who are unavailable for that Sunday game should notify Steve Keam (0418 593 554), Rick Colling (0418 351 613) or Tim Miller (0419 318 716).
The squad will meet together (not training) at the Beaconsfield clubrooms on Tuesday, November 21 at 7pm.
Several leading players not named in the squad, including Dwayne Doig (Cardinia), Quentin Lucas (Emerald) and Ben Tivendale (Officer), have indicated they are not available for representative games this season.
