Beaconsfield struggles with the bat

BEACONSFIELD’s A grade cricket team won the toss and batted against Catani in a game that shaped up as a great contest.
Catani, however, dominated with the ball to dismiss Beaconsfield for 90 in 34 overs.
Kris Fletcher topscored with 21, and Madison Andrews (11) was the only other batsman to reach double figures.
In reply, Catani passed the required total with two wickets down and went on be dismissed for a total of 227.
Jack Benbow was the key wickettaker with 5/66 from 10 overs and Johannes Jordan captured 2/27 from four sharp overs.
The surprise packet with the ball was Fletcher with 2/5, and captain Luke Sibley took one wicket.

B GRADE

Squaring up against Cranbourne Meadows, Beaconsfield lost the toss and was asked to bowl.
After a sharp effort with the ball and in the field, Cranbourne Meadows was dismissed for 102.
Travis Turnbull led the charge with 5/14 off six tidy overs, while Peter Sofra continued his good form with 3/23, as did Jarrod Williams with 2/25.
Beaconsfield then set about getting the required runs as quickly as possible.
Matt Brown scored an excellent 76 opening the batting, while support came from Troy McDermott (15) and Geoff Bliss (12).
Declaring at 7/141, Beaconsfield sent Cranbourne Meadows in for another hit before stumps.
In a great start for Beaconsfield, Travis Turnbull captured 3/7 to have Cranbourne Meadows at 3/18 at stumps, still 19 runs behind.
Beaconsfield will look for an outright win to keep its finals chances alive this weekend.

C GRADE

Lyndhurst batted first against Beaconsfield and compiled the competitive total of 8/219.
Wickets were shared, with Dave Lennon (2/23) and Paul Benbow (2/2) returning the best figures, supported by Brendan Ewert with 1/43.

D GRADE

Up against Merinda Park, Beaconsfield batted first and had a tough day, finally reaching 127.
Rob Young topscored with 48 and Tom Carlyle and Wayne Heathcote were the only other players to reach double figures.
In reply, Merinda Park was 1/70 with Steve Grindy as the sole wickettaker.

E GRADE

Winning the toss and batting, Beaconsfield battled through most of the day to reach 113 from 61 overs.
Greg Tomamichel top scored with 30, Russell Vincent made a good 23, while Joe McMaster (10), Nathan Boon (11) and James Marsh (10 not out) made valuable contributions.
In reply, Pakenham UpperToomuc was 0/5 at stumps.

F GRADE

In its game against Officer, Beaconsfield snared a good win with 7/123 in reply to Officer’s 9/95.
Paul Brown took 3/14 to lead the bowling.
Adam Dalton with 2/9 and Matt Dodd with 2/10 also had a good day with the ball.
Young Josh Bruneau topscored with 38, followed by Cam Fletcher with 25 and Reece Suttie with 22 not out.

UNDER 17 TIGERS

Playing Emerald Black, the Tigers bowled well to dismiss Emerald for 122 with the best bowlers Raphael Adeloju 3/21, Tom Carlyle 3/28 and Gus Patti 2/12.
In reply the Tigers were 0/12.

UNDER 17 BANDITS

The Bandits bowled well to dismiss Pakenham UpperToomuc for 171.
The Star with the ball was Tom Warburton with an allbowled hattrick, finishing with 4/28.
Madison Andrews (2/17), Brent Dames (1/28), Jay Marcon (1/33), Peter Sofra (1/25) and Brad Pitcher (1/29) were the other wickettakers.

UNDER 15 EAGLES

The Eagles played Pakenham and bowled tightly to restrict Pakenham to 7/123cc with Ben Martin taking 3/7 off six overs, Alex Benbow 1/18, Adam Young 1/8 off six overs, Dan Cousins 1/9 and Ryan Grafton 1/15.

UNDER 15 TIGERS

Playing Merinda Park Red, the Tigers batted first to make 146 with Arran Perera making 12, Damien Johnston 26, Daniel Johnston 15, Nathan Mitchell 31 not out and Nick Beltran 15.
In reply, Merinda Park was 0/5.

UNDER 15 SAINTS

Playing Officer, the Saints’ best batsmen were Brent Colling (22), Dylan Brown (21) and Dylan Claxton (18).
Officer was 0/6 in reply.

UNDER 13

Beacy Blitz are playing Beacy Tigers, with the Tigers making 8/130 with W. Haines 25 not out, M. Johnson 19 and H. Dooley 17.
Best bowlers for the Blitz were N. Hillard 2/6, J. Grove 1/4 and J. Parker 1/4.
