THE top four Beaconsfield grades are all in evenly poised tough contests after round three, day one, while Egrade has a difficult task ahead and Fgrade lost its oneday game.
A GRADE
In a tight tussle for the full 80 overs at the Beaconsfield ground, Devon Meadows was restricted to 9/239.
The visitors started well reaching 1/110 at tea, with a total near 300 a real possibility.
After tea the Beaconsfield bowlers managed to restrict the Devon Meadows scoring, eventually capturing the last eight wickets for 100 runs.
Best of the bowlers were Ryan O’Connor with 4/48 from his 24 overs and was well supported by Gus Patti with 2/44.
Troy McDermott, Jack Benbow and Jason Dodd each finished with a wicket.
B GRADE
After losing the toss, Beaconsfield was sent in to bat and got off to a shaky start.
Pakenham UpperToomuc captured early wickets to have Beaconsfield at 3/21.
Steve Glen was the only toporder batsman to get runs with a solid 42.
The middle order held up better with Andrew Jones reaching 28 and Matt Ravenhall 17.
Again the wickets fell and at 9/123, Geoff Bliss and Paul Benbow came together for a 68run final wicket partnership.
Bliss finished with 34 and Benbow 32 to give Beaconsfield a solid total to defend this week.
C GRADE
Facing the strong Kooweerup batting line up, Beaconsfield bowled well to dismiss it for 122.
Dave Lennon led the charge with 4/28. Ross Mitchell was the other multiple wickettaker with 2/10 and Jamie Ingham, Andrew Mercier and Greg Butler each got one scalp.
In reply Beaconsfield reached 1/28 with Mercier on nine and Ross Mitchell on eight.
D GRADE
Playing Nyora, Beaconsfield batted almost the entire day to reach 171. Veteran Wayne Holden top scored with 43 and was followed closely by junior Alex Benbow with 35.
David Green, Rob Young and Steve Grindy all reached scores in the teens to help boost the total.
E GRADE
Batting first Kooweerup reached 189.
Captain John Martin bowled well to snare 5/71. Josh Bruneau (2/14), Bevan Pitcher (2/27) and Joe McMaster (1/33) were the other successful bowlers.
In reply Beaconsfield suffered early losses and limped to 6/30 at stumps. Brent Andrews is the current highest scorer with eight.
F GRADE
Batting first against KilcundaBass, Beaconsfield crashed to be 5/3 early in its innings before finally being all out for 70. Damien Johnston top scored with 30 and the only other player to reach double figures was Greg Tomamichel.
In reply KilcundaBass made 5/116. James Johnston bowled well to return 2/32. Jade Osborne took 2/6 and Jarrod Madden 1/15.
UNDER 17 BANDITS
Beaconsfield played Clyde and bowled well to dismiss it for 69.
Best bowlers were Brent Dames (4/13), Peter Sofra (4/14), Blane Bertoncello (1/13) and Tom Warburton (1/7).
In reply the Bandits are 0/13.
UNDER 17 TIGERS
Beaconsfield is playing Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll and batted well to make 9/130 with Gus Patti (23), Declan McDermott (12), Luke Johnson (12) and Troy McDermott (51 not out).
Two young under13 players, Xavier Patti and Jack Opteynde filled in and batted well. Beaconsfield is still looking for more under17 players for the season.
UNDER 15 EAGLES
Beaconsfield played Emerald Blacks and batted well to make 8/102 cc with Josh Bruneau 13, Adam Young 10, Alex Benbow 28, Ben Martin 14 and Jordan Kelly 13 not out.
UNDER 15 TIGERS
Beaconsfield played Cardinia and batted well to be all out in the last over for 110 with Brent Andrews 38 not out, Aaron Perera 16 and Damien Johnston 16.
UNDER 15 SAINTS
Beaconsfield played Pakenham UpperToomuc Yabbies and batted first to be all out 90, with Jade Osborne 33 not out, Reece Suttie 15 and Ian Goodison 13. In reply the Yabbies are 2/10 with Brent Colling 2/4.
UNDER 13 SAINTS
The Saints played Emerald that made 10/158 with the best bowlers Dylan Schembri 2/9, Alex Gal 2/18 and Jesse Campbell 2/20.
UNDER 13 TIGERS
Beaconsfield played Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll White and batted first to make 6/91 with William Haines 26 not out and Jordan Sheehan 24.
UNDER 13 MINORS
The minors played Pakenham UpperToomuc and PUT made 95 with the best bowlers Nathan Madden 2/7 and Dylan Blizzard and Arvind Krishnamoorthy a wicket each.
