GARFIELD’S divisiontwo team had a close loss against Yallourn North on Saturday by 19 shots.
At halftime Garfield was one shot down and up on two rinks, but finished poorly, winning one rink for the day and taking only two points. .
Scores were: Stephen Bassed, Stu Robertson, Wayne Gunton and Matthew Smith lost to B. Dobson 14 to 31.
Gary Payne, Peter Gallasch, Shane Oliver and Bob Lamport lost to J. Tullio 19 to 24.
Les Pumphrey, Hank Wouters, Frank Prins and Bill Charles lost to G. Powell 24 to 25.
The only winner of the day was the Colin Mills team of Jim Oliver, Geoff Gaskell and Don Knight who defeated J. Wetzel 25 to 21.
In divisionsix, Garfield 62 defeated Yarragon (2) 46 shots to 30 to gain full points.
Scores were: Bob Hope, Laurence Wright, Ray Biffin and Adrian Helmuth defeated B. Roberts 26 to 11.
Alex Mentiplay, Les Shatwell, Barry Smith and John Rose defeated G. King 20 shots to 19.
Garfield 63 lost a close match to Warragul (6) by 8 shots.
Scores were Gordon Beer, Keith Sainsbery, Royce Collins and Bill Doherty lost to M. Portelli 24 to 27.
Reg Mattingley, Lyn Oliver, Wes Goodman and Bill Pearson lost to B. Portingale 24 to 29.
Due to Cup Day no pennant bowls were played on Tuesday.
LADIES
Saturday pennant was not a happy day for the Garfield ladies going down to Drouin by 21 shots.
Scores were: Judy Prentice, Bev Sainsbery and Maureen Lamport lost to M. Schofield 11 to 24.
Rose Shaw, Joan Garvey and Joan Donovan lost to L. Freeman 21 to 29.
