Garfield bounces back

AFTER last weeks narrow loss by three shots against Morwell, Garfield Bowls Club’s divisiontwo team convincingly defeated Moe (2) by 10 shots and gained 16 points to Moe’s two.
Garfield divisionsix (2) also had an excellent win against Longwarry (2) by 39 shots to gain maximum points of 10 for the day.
Scores were; Alex Mentiplay, Les Shatwell, Russell Bruce and Wes Goodman defeated S. Charman 26 to 11.25. Bob Hope, Laurence Wright, Royce Collins and Bill Doherty defeated P. Purvis 34 to 9.75
Division six (3) just lost to Warragul (4) by six shots and gained two points.
Scores were Lyn Oliver, Pat Marriott, Keith Sainsberry and Fay Carmichael lost 18 to 26. Gordon Beer, Bill Charles, Barrie Smith and Adrian Helmuth won 24 to 23.

LADIES

The ladies results for Tuesday last week proved to be a good win for the Garfield divisionthree team against Neerim District.
Rose Shaw’s team lost 23 to 33. Eleanor Lee’s team won 34 to 19 and Lyn Oliver’s team won 24 to 17 to give Garfield an 18shot win overall.
The ladies Saturday team played Yallourn and lost by five shots overall. The scores were Rose Shaw’s team lost 18 to 24 whereas Eleanor Lee’s team won 18 to 17.

COMING EVENTS

The ‘silver shoe’ game will be played on December 3 and is for mixed fours. Those intending to play are asked to put their names down early to avoid disappointment.
The entry sheets for the Christmas tournament are on the board at the clubhouse and members are asked to sign up soon to ensure entry.
Also the club championships draws have been completed so members are asked to play their matches by the due date.
