Girl gang face caution for theft

A SCHOOLGIRLS’ crime spree came to an end last Wednesday when three 15yearold Pakenham girls were caught stealing property from two houses.
The three girls allegedly stole a hair straightener, money, stereo headphones and a radio from two houses in Meeking Drive and then attempted to break into two more properties in Gullquist Way.
Police said the girls gained access to the two houses by kicking both back doors down.
An alert neighbour detained one girl while her two accomplices were arrested by Pakenham police officers shortly after.
Senior Constable Tony Davies said the girls would be cautioned and placed on a youth program.
“If the offenders are under 18 years of age, admit guilt and the offence is a minor one they may be eligible for a rehabilitation program,” Sen Const Davies said.
He also praised the efforts of the neighbour who heard one of the breakins and made a citizen’s arrest.
