SATURDAY’S round of pennant saw interesting results affecting ladder positions in all divisions.
In division one, Yallourn strengthened its finals chances with a 15-shot win over Morwell Club and gained third place by doing so.
For Yallourn, Barney Sewell beat Lee McKenzie 31/15 and Shaun Kennedy beat Sandy Caines 27/22, while Alan Ralls beat John Hannant 30/28 and Ian Kirkup won 26/22 over Alan Grubb for Morwell Club.
In another important game, Drouin was far too good for Traralgon winning 101/73 pushing it down to fourth with a finals’ berth in jeopardy as it faces two danger games in Yallourn, at home next week and Neerim away in the final round.
As expected, Moe was far too good for Trafalgar winning 102/74 and Neerim did itself no harm in beating Longwarry convincingly 113/74 to jump off the bottom of the ladder albeit by just three points.
In division two, leaders Traralgon (2) just beat Thorpdale 95/94, Moe beat Yallourn North 101/98, Warragul easily beat Garfield 112/87 and RSL just beat Traralgon (3) 85/82.
In this division the four looks settled with Traralgon (2), Moe, Warragul and RSL 28 points clear of the fifth-placed side.
However there is a struggle in the bottom order to avoid relegation.
In division three, Boolarra belted top side Drouin 103/73, Morwell easily beat Trafalgar 110/81, Yinnar beat Warragul 93/86 to make its position in division three a little safer and Yallourn surprised Morwell Club winning 95/92.
In division four, Yarragon accounted for Yallourn 106/63, Moe had a narrow 93/88 win against Warragul, Morwell beat Yallourn North 94/83 and Traralgon got off the bottom with a big 110/66 win against RSL.
The four in this division is Yarragon, Morwell, Moe and Warragul and this four looks settled as Yallourn North is next 18 points behind.
In division five, Morwell Club beat Traralgon 73/65, Boolarra won easily 84/55 over Yallourn, Yinnar held its fourth place by beating Trafalgar Park 83/66 and Drouin won 79/73 against Neerim.
The four is Morwell Club, Neerim, Drouin and Yinnar with Boolarra knocking on the door, four points behind.
The next two rounds are interesting and will certainly determine fourth place.
In six west, Warragul (4) beat Longwarry 50/42, Warragul (5) drew with Garfield 44 apiece and Neerim narrowly beat Drouin (5) 57/55.
Only the top three play finals in division six and currently the top three are Warragul (4), Warragul (5) and Neerim with Drouin (4) and Garfield a few points further back.
