Security saves homes from theft

TWO house burglaries in Officer have highlighted the advantages of having a home security system.
Thieves were scared away when alarms were set off at the homes last Thursday.
Pakenham police believed the two attempted burglaries were connected.
They are searching for an old dusty dark blue sedan, possibly a Mazda, with no number plates and a child seat in the back.
Police are also searching for a man and a woman believed to be driving the car.
The car was seen at a home on O’Neil Road at 3.50pm on Thursday.
Police said the wouldbe burglars attempted to get into the house before fleeing when the alarm activated about 4pm.
They left without stealing anything or gaining entry to the property.
Also on Thursday was an attempted breakin at a home in Payne Road.
The offenders jemmied a sliding door but the alarm activated and they left without stealing anything.
Pakenham Sergeant Mick Wright said the properties were both semirural and there was less chance of the offenders being seen.
He said the attempted burglaries were a good example for other home owners to increase their security.
Anyone with information about the incidents or the car is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Phil Jury at Pakenham CIU on 5941 1033 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
