Top order carries Seagulls in A grade

TOORADIN got a good start against Cardinia in A grade before losing 6/24 towards the end of the innings.
Tooradin lost the toss and was sent in to bat and made 202 from almost 76 overs.
The Seagulls recovered from 2/29 with an excellent 86-run partnership between Trevor Johnston (66) and Brenton Adams (46).
Useful contributions came from youngster Aaron Avery (32) and Chris Hughes (20).
Cardinia fought back at the end and captured the last wickets cheaply before finishing 0/1 at stumps.

B GRADE

Tooradin played Pakenham at Pakenham, won the toss and elected to bat.
After a poor start at 1/3, Tony Floro and Mick Ash put on a solid 33-run partnership.
When Ash (49) was dismissed Andrew Gray (42) and Jarrad Thompson (22) came together for an excellent 54-run partnership.
Tooradin was all out in the 60th over for 150. In reply Pakenham was 0/7 off seven overs.

E GRADE

Tooradin won the toss against Officer and, in the Gulls’ best effort for several years, knocked up 298 all out.
Adam Galea returned to form, making 53, and Andrew Sparks made a stylish 62, after Sean Wilson made a solid 21, Tom Sannen 32 and Chris Brennan 26.

UNDER 16

Tooradin defeated Cardinia by 30 runs on the first innings.
Chasing Tooradin’s 5/142, Cardinia was dismissed in the 40th over for 112.
The Tooradin opening bowlers helped the side get a great start, Sean Baker taking 2/9 off six overs. Sean Wilson, Cory Leslie (1/14) and Daniel Wallis (1/11) bowled accurately.
Chief wicket taker was Ben Morrow with 3/25 from eight overs, Ben Tobin took 1/11 and Brent Maher 1/27 (seven overs).
Maher also took a great one-handed slips catch and James Thompson behind the wicket did a fine job.

UNDER 14

The Gulls defended their 9/111 with their best bowling performance of the season.
After openers Jack Barker and Jaedyn Thomson took 1/3 from the first eight overs, Jay Wilson (3/8) and Dave Tobin (5/6) tore through Catani’s batsmen, dismissing the top team for 20.
Stumps were drawn with Catani 6/43, Matt Hargreaves taking 2/3 and Josh Morcom 2/0.
