BEACONHILLS Country Golf Club’s David and Matt Coates and Graeme Inglefinger played top golf on Saturday to win their way through to the regional final of the Holden Scramble in October.
The scramble has been played at Beaconhills since 1990 and Barry Bourke Holden, Berwick has sponsored the event for the 16 years.
On Saturday a full field braved the elements on the Old course, attempting to win through to the next level.
The game is an Ambrose event, played in teams of three.
David Coates, Matt Coates and Graeme Inglefinger won with a nett 57 3/6.
Second were James Coughlin, Steve Mancer and Andy Kiker, with 57 5/6.
Both teams have qualified for the regional final held in October.
On the Lakes course, Ambrose Fours was played.
Brian Wills, Denis Hooper, Mick Martin and Doug Rowe were the winners with a gross 62 nett 55.

This was a Stableford competition played on the Old course and won on a countback by junior member Ben Taylor (handicap eight) with 37 points.

Dieter Voigt blitzed the Old course field with 40 points, four points in front of his nearest competitor.

Wednesday was monthly medal and Maria Grant shot 101/72 in tough conditions to secure her medal.
The concurrent playoff for the June medal was won by Lorraine Baxter from Anne Madigan.
Paula Rae won the putting spoon with 27 putts, while the silver spoon was won by Libby Anderson.
A and Bgrade propin winners were Marilyn Ford and Noeline King respectively.
Nearestthepin winners were Lynette Forster (sixth) and Paula Rae (15th).
On Thursday there were two grade winners A grade, Andrew Conn and B grade, Joe Langdon.
