Two wins for Cora Lynn

IN round 15 Cora Lynn met the powerful Kooweerup sides and won in B and C grades.

A GRADE

Against top side Kooweerup Cora Lynn showed great teamwork and at the first break was two goals in front. Cora Lynn felt extra pressure in the second quarter and turnovers increased. There were fewer opportunities in goals and Kooweerup edged ahead by two goals by halftime.
In the second half Kooweerup’s constant pressure and accurate passing left Cora Lynn little opportunity to reduce the lead. Letetia Ebert played a determined game in the centre and continually tried to lift the team. The Cora Lynn defence was swapped around to try and break the opposition’s hold but Kooweerup recorded a good win.
Scores: Kooweerup 45 d Cora Lynn 34.

B GRADE

Cora Lynn needed a strong start against Kooweerup and all players carried out their instructions well. In the first quarter the teams went goal for goal but in the second and third Cora Lynn took control. Bella Willis, Leanne Scamporlino, Meaghan Greene and Andy Payne played well through the midcourt.
Scores: Cora Lynn 50 d Kooweerup 40. Best: Bella Willis.

C GRADE

Cora Lynn started well against Kooweerup, but poor passing cost it the lead at the first break. Injury forced changes in the second quarter, but Cora Lynn played strongly. The defence played well, with many intercepts made by Sarah Gunton and Elise Byrne. Loren Dalziel and Simone Dillon fed the ball well through the centre. Claire Ahern filled in for absent goalers and played exceptionally well. In a nailbiting last quarter Cora Lynn was able to hold on and win by one goal.
Scores: Cora Lynn 30 d Kooweerup 29. Awards: Sarah Gunton, Claire Ahern.

UNDER 17

Cora Lynn started hesitantly against the tall Kooweerup. Emily Bright and Claire Ahern worked hard together and were fed well by Megan Hester and Courtney Ball. Due to some of the team not feeling well, some changes were made at quarter time and Jessica McMillan played strong in defence and stepped up to the challenge. Cora Lynn continued to work hard against a strong team and adjusted well when changes were made.
Scores: Kooweerup 52 d Cora Lynn 10. Awards: Claire Ahern, Megan Hester.

UNDER 15
