Wally can’t wait

THE countdown is on to the Pakenham Show — and Gazette mascot Wally Wombat can’t wait.
This year’s show will see the firstever Wally Wombat Golden Trail, a fantastic and fun event that will help raise muchneeded funds for Windermere Child and Family Services.
The Pakenham Gazette has combined with the show society to support worthy organisations in the local district.
Children — and adults — can buy their passport to the Golden Trail and enjoy some terrific treats and as well as the chance to win some great prizes.
At the end of the trail, passports will go into a major draw for a sensational Panasonic videoDVD player and an Adidas sports bag.
Money raised will go to Windermere.
Pakenham show president George Wall said preparations were well in place for the 95th annual show.
Mr Wall said he hoped to see another huge crowd at the Pakenham racecourse on Saturday, 18 March.
“The show is the one day of the year when the country comes to town with livestock exhibits, foot racing, ironman and woman events and much, much more,” he said.
“It’s all coming together nicely.”
Windermere chief executive officer Cheryl De Zilwa welcomed the Wally fundraiser saying the proceeds would support the organisation’s Kids Becoming Champions program.
The program helps at risk young people up to 18 years of age learn valuable social and sporting skills.
