“Hopefully everyone here will be back next year in even bigger numbers,” he said.
He said the club aimed to build Oaks Day at Pakenham over the next five years.
“We are not only delighted with the day but where the racing meet will take the club,” he said.
“We believe it has got the potential to be as big as Cup Day.”
Mr Hodge said the club was also delighted with the sponsorship and that the fashion around the event could mean a big boom for fashion retailers during the Spring carnival.
Mr Hodge said that despite the terrible weather experienced on Oaks Day, it could “only happen once”.
“It was a double whammy. The wind was almost unbearable, then that would stop and the rain would start,” he said.
The next major event at the track will be Christmas Race Day on Friday, 9 December for work parties and private functions.
Mr Hodge said 925 people were already booked, with many more tickets available.
