EDRINGTON Ward councillor Mick Morland was selected last Saturday as the Liberal Party candidate for the state seat of Narre Warren North.
Cr Morland said he could not comment on his election because it needed to be ratified by the Liberal Party State Council.
However, his success became evident during the official opening of the Akoonah Park Centre on Sunday, during which he received several congratulatory handshakes.
The Gazette was told both candidates, former Casey councillor Ben Clissold and Cr Morland, were highly regarded by delegates and that the vote was extremely close.
