Beaconsfield house gets extra funding

UPPER Beaconsfield Neighbourhood House will receive $49,400 as extra funding.
Gembrook MP Tammy Lobato said the funding would allow the neighbourhood house to extend its hours and offer more programs.
Ms Lobato said extended hours meant more residents could take advantage of neighbourhood house services such as selfhelp and social support groups, children’s activities, health promotion, and arts and crafts.
She said they also provided the opportunity to learn new skills through courses offered or through volunteering.
“The Bracks Government has tripled funding for Victoria’s neighbourhood houses since 1999 because we believe Victorians deserve better access to the services offered by neighbourhood houses.
“Neighbourhood houses are vital community facilities where residents can learn new skills, meet new people and pursue new recreational activities.
“They also play an essential role in offering the opportunity to new residents to an area to meet other people, develop friendships and learn new skills.
“This year neighbourhood houses will receive more funding than ever before which shows the Bracks Government cares about neighbourhood house services.
“The new program hours start from Sunday, 1 October, and in most cases the funding is backdated to July this year,” Ms Lobato said.
