FIRE investigators are treating a blaze that destroyed a derelict house near Catani on the weekend as suspicious.
Police and CFA officials are continuing to examine the cause of the fire, which also severely damaged sheds and a campervan on the rural property.
At least a 12 firefighters from Lang Lang, Bayles and Kooweerup fire brigades found the unoccupied house well alight after they received the call in the early hours of Sunday morning.
CFA crews took about half an hour to control the blaze.
Brigade administration support officer Chris Barber said it was believed the fire started in the front of the house as well as in a shed and campervan.
“While the house fire grew quickly and was fully involved when fire crews arrived, the two smaller fires were extinguished by the brigades before they could take hold,” he said.
Fire equipment used to control the blaze included a tanker and lighting from Lang Lang, a tanker from Bayles, and one from Kooweerup.
The incident capped a busy fortnight for Lang Lang CFA, Mr Barber said.
“In the past two weeks, crews have attended two house fires, a car engine fire and a bus engine fire, putting an end to a quiet couple of months for the brigade,” he said.
