GARFIELD (1) side travelled to Traralgon on Saturday and apart from the wind, pleasant conditions prevailed and the greens ran brilliantly.
Jim Oliver’s side had a good battle all day, but dropped a 7+5 to go down overall by two shots after winning 15 of the 25 ends.
Jim Oliver, Bill Brown, Frank Prins and Malcolm Shaw went down 23-26.
Les Pumphrey’s side was in a tight tussle until the 18th end with the scores 17-20, but put their heads down and came home to win the last seven ends for a great victory, 33-20.
Les Pumphrey, Hank Wouters, Bill Charles and Don Knight.
Col Mills’ side struggled all day and did well to stay in it to only go down by six shots.
Col Mills, Alex Mentiplay, Stuart Robinson and Adrian Helmuth went down 16-22.
Steve Whyte’s side had a tight tussle with no more than a few shots in it all day, but came up trumps in the end, winning the last three ends for a two-shot victory 23-21.
Overall Garfield (1) side beat Traralgon 95-89 to register its first win for the season.
Garfield (2) side played at home due to Neerim South unfortunately having too many sides at home and not enough rinks.
Bob Hope’s side clicked to record its best and came home with a very good win.
Bob Hope, Laurence Wright, Lynn Oliver and the return from Perth of Bob Lamport won 38-8.
Gordon Beer’s side had a tussle all day and there was nothing in it coming down to the last end leading by two shots, but unfortunately for Garfield, Neerim got two shots and the game ended in a draw.
Gordon Beer, Les Shatwell, Wayne Gunton and Jack Vugs drew 24-24.
Overall Garfield’s (2) side won 62-32 to also bring up its first win.
