Early start for Stars

GARFIELD officially put a tumultuous 2006 season behind it by holding its first training run at the newly laid Beswick Street oval last Friday.
Almost 30 players trained, while another 10 attended and enjoyed the posttraining barbecue with a group of supporters as coach Ben Soumilas outlined the preChristmas program.
The Stars will train on Monday and Friday nights before breaking for Christmas on Friday 22 December.
President Neville Bow advised all of a new playerpayment structure and incentive award scheme, and also gave an overview of planned improvements to facilities including, change rooms, trainers’ facilities and ice baths.
Bow also outlined a proposed membership drive that is being developed by the marketing subcommittee and is to be promoted with the release of a membership brochure.
