TRAFALGAR mare Rhythmaka upstaged a smart field to score her first metropolitan victory at Moonee Valley last Friday night.
At odds of $31.70 on the TAB, Rhythmaka led all the way and held off a challenge from Mi Coconut, which was unbeaten in 10 starts going into the event.
Rhythmaka is trained by Chris Hunter and was driven by his son Glenn for ownerbreeder Graham Tonkin, former Trafalgar postmaster.
The mare has now won eight of her 55 starts and has proven a good earner for connections.
Also at Moonee Valley, Gippsland horses finished second and third at big odds in the twoyearold event, Secret Rendevous for Michael Hughes and Summer Operative for Ray Floyd. Harness racing is at Cranbourne this Tuesday night and at Warragul on Wednesday, 10 August.
