Grand final serve for Nar Nar Goon juniors

NAR Nar Goon Tennis Club juniors successfully competed in the semifinals for the West Gippsland Tennis Association junior competition last Saturday.
The sectioneight team finished the homeandaway season on top of the ladder and played Lang Lang for a place in the grand final at Catani.
Nar Nar Goon twins Brad and Dean Grant started strongly with a 6/2 win, while Ben Distefano and Caitlin Benton also played great tennis to record a 6/3 win.
The next two sets saw the Lang Lang team lift its game, but the Nar Nar Goon players were up to the challenge, winning 7/6 and 6/4.
Matthew Benton then stepped in for his sister and recorded a solid win 6/2 to seal the match for Nar Nar Goon.
The final set was another close encounter with Nar Nar Goon winning 7/6.
There was a great display of sportsmanship and some lengthy rallies that made the whole morning very exciting for spectators.
The Nar Nar Goon team has now secured its place in the grand final on Saturday, 24 March.
It will play again this weekend against Maryknoll for the other grandfinal berth.
In section 10, the Nar Nar Goon team of Ryan Alexandrakis, Ashlee Bloxidge, Sarah Alexandrakis, Alice Timmins and Luke Tivendale travelled to Tooradin for their semifinal against Tynong.
The first two sets of the morning were evenly split with Ryan and Ashlee winning 6/3, but Sarah and Alice lost 3/6.
Nar Nar Goon then lifted its game to win the remaining four sets in a very close and competitive fashion.
After a 10game win by the players in their first season of competition, the section10 team will now play against archrival Pakenham at Tooradin for a place in the grand final.
