Highland bands pipe up

By Jim Mynard
HAILEYBURY College Pipe Band distinguished itself at the Berwick Highland Games pipe band competition at Akoonah Park on Sunday, 11 February.
Haileybury College won the coveted Tom McGill trophy to place its student band alongside senior bands in Victoria.
The college also won the juvenile section.
Band winners were grade four Haileybury; grade three City of Hawthorn Pipe Band; grade two City of Melbourne No 1 pipe band; and grade one the Australian Highlanders.
The Rotary Club of Narre Warren conducted the annual games and organisers said that despite high winds on the day it was a great success.
Demonstrations by the Berwick Obedience Dog Club proved to be a highlight of the day and a popular attraction for children.
The dogs created enormous interest with obedience and agility displays on the oval.
