Stableford stars at country club

IT was Stableford winners galore at Beaconhills Country Club Golf Course on Saturday, 17 September.
Doug Lapthorne was the winner on the Old course with 43 points, while there were three grade winners on the Lakes.
Ray Robertson won A grade with 36 points, Jim Parker returned the best score of the day to win B grade with 40 points and Steve Kidd won C grade with 37 points.

SUNDAY RESULTS

September 18 was a fourballbestball competition on the Lakes course.
Matt Collins and Ryan Milsome combined magnificently to win with 50 points to runnersup Andy and Danny Hill, the fatherandson team scoring 49 points.

TUESDAY RESULTS

Play reverted back to the Old Course on September 20.
Peter Matthews was the winner of the Stableford competition with 43 points.

OPEN DAY

Spring broke through when the Beaconhills ladies hosted an open day on Wednesday, 21 September, with azaleas and camellias blooming outside the clubhouse and vases full of them inside.
Les Richards and Bob Gordon were winners in the men’s fourballbestball event to runnersup Nikolaus Hock and Ian Neason, who won on a countback from Ashley Graham and John Madigan.
Paula Rae and Lee James combined well to win the ladies’ event with 41 points from Libby Anderson and Rosalie Leake.
Andy Biddle and Jenny Hodges won the Agrade longest drives, while Michael Waters and Raylene Chisholm won B grade.
Nearest the pins were won by Doug Rowe (second) Marilyn Ford (sixth) and Leoni Carswell (13th).

THURSDAY RESULTS

This was stableford on the Lakes course.
A grade was won by club professional Graham Kelly with 41 points and Les Ankers won B grade on a countback with 39 points.

JUNIOR STARS

Beaconhills junior members continue to do well. The Lady Tallis competition, run by Victoria Golf Club, was won on Thursday by 14yearold Vanessa Tranfield with 35 points in very windy conditions.
Next week 16yearold Laura Griffin heads up to the Hunter Valley to compete in the Jack Newton Invitational.
