Chasing the massive 323 set by Tooradin, the Bombers’ efforts were not enough and they were dismissed for good total of 238. It was a good team effort by Emerald, which started at the top of the order, Mark Allenson regaining some form in a 30over stay that yielded 30 runs.
From there the Bombers couldn’t find a way to go on with it after Quentin and Brodie Lucas, John Noonan and Daniel Porter all fell in the 20s and Emerald was in trouble at 7/147. But in the lower order Mark Wheatley and Clinton Marsh both hit the ball cleanly and Emerald put together a respectable total. The pair made 32 and 41 respectively and, with Nathan Leversha’s 13 not out, Emerald’s innings finished after 75 overs. All but three batsmen got starts in promising signs for the young team.

The Bombers were trying to defend 105 and Pakenham resumed 1/30. Emerald got a good start, Cam Williams and Geoff Worrell each grabbing early wickets, and Pakenham was 3/55. But with only 50 runs needed Emerald needed more quick wickets that didn’t eventuate, despite good bowling from Jarred Gillespie, Yo Roelink and Adam Failla. The next wicket to fall was at 115 in the 46th over.
Despite the game being beyond the Bombers’ reach, the bowlers toiled hard and dismissed Pakenham for 199. Gillespie was the best, claiming 3/77 of 17 overs, Failla took 2/23, Worrell 2/23 off 13 and Roelink 2/42 off 13. Emerald batted again and finished 4/75. James Litterbach made 36 and Lee Ligtermoet 24.

After the Bombers managed a good total of 191 it was up to the bowlers to seal the second win of the year. However they got a bad start, the first wicket falling in the 28th over with the score on 94, and the next wicket after that fell with the score on 210. After 70 overs Pakenham was 3/254. For the Bombers Andrew Rolfs bowled well but without luck and ended with 0/42 off 14 overs. Jay Kleinsmit also bowled well and was rewarded with 1/35. Robert Wynne came on and bowled a neat eightover spell to end up with the best figures of the day, 2/26.

Chasing Kooweerup’s 228, Emerald resumed 0/76. Mark O’Brien and James Burke lasted 16 overs before Burke was out for 21 with the score on 110. Then O’Brien had solid partnerships with Neil O’Connell and Corey Sweeney and Emerald was cruising at 3/169. Then the Bombers collapsed before Euan Thoms then joined O’Brien for the eighth wicket with 40 needed to win. The partnership was successful in getting Emerald home, but just after the winning runs were hit O’Brien fell an agonising eight runs short of a century when he was caught at square leg. Thoms finished 25 not out.

The previously undefeated Emerald played KilcundaBass at home and batted first. The Bombers posted 82 off 28 overs but a late collapse was costly. At the top of the order Wayne Pollard, Byron Porter, Tony Mason, Ben Wright and Neil Gillespie batted well to get the score to 3/62 but then the Bombers lost quick wickets. In reply Emerald bowled well but it wasn’t enough and KilcundaBass totalled 110. For the Bombers Kade Ely’s 3/17 were the best figures and he was well supported by Cale Porter’s 2/8 and Tony Mason with 2/12.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 16 BLACK

The Blacks played Pakenham Upper and bowled first. The Bombers got a great start, having Pakenham Upper 3/23, then the Yabbies batted well to post 7/163 after their 40 overs. For the Bombers Dan Leversha was excellent with 3/21, Euan Thoms got 2/25 and Ash Lucas 1/26.

The Reds played Officer, got a great start and continued to post the good total of 6/153. For the Bombers Byron Sidwell with 51 retired and James Burke (44) were great and Jack Allisey made 14. Good lowerorder hitting managed a total of 163.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:UNDER 14 BLACK

The Blacks played Pakenham Upper and batted first. Without a couple of players Emerald did well to post the score of 110. For Emerald Andrew Alenson made 31 not out at the top of the order and was well supported by Tye Johnstone’s 28 and Callum Thoms, who made 15.
