THE Berwick Village Chamber of Commerce and Star News Groupsponsored grid girl competition held at Central Star Auto Haus Mercedes, Narre Warren, has raised more than $7000.
Berwick model Rebecca Hall was named the 2006 Berwick Grand prix Grid Girl and will now compete in the Melbourne Grand prix Grid Girl competition.
Runnerup was Berwick hairdresser Kellie Mackenzie.
Chamber president and auctioneer Michael Hall hosted the evening.
Eighteen finalists worked as hostesses to nearly 300 people at the function and the winner was chosen by popular vote by people at the function.
Part of the money will go to the St John of God Hospital, Berwick and the balance will go toward the planned 2007 grand prix festival for Berwick Village.
Guest speaker was champion rally car driver Alan Moffatt who spoke of his pathway to success on the racetrack.
