Hardware store set for relaunch

A MEGA amount of new jobs are set to be created in Pakenham when a hardware store is refurbished and reopened next month.
Hardy’s Mitre 10 is currently undergoing extensive renovations to rebrand the old store on the corner of Racecourse Road and Bald Hill Road into a Mitre 10 Mega.
The opening will result in more than 20 new jobs and take the number of Hardy’s employees in Pakenham to more than 100.
More than 30,000 different product lines will be on offer and car parking will be extended.
The opening of the new store couldn’t of been timed any better for local residents who will be able to work on their houses and gardens during the warmer spring and summer months.
Manager director Darrell Hardy said news of the renovation works has been spreading around the community.
“There is a lot of talk from both staff and customers that are thrilled about the upcoming opening of the store in October,” Mr Hardy said.
“We are planning big celebrations on our opening day which will include major giveaways for customers, children’s activities, sausage sizzles and other fun stuff.”
Mr Hardy said the whole company had been rejuvenated with the impending opening of the new store and shoppers would be presented with a new look timber yard, gardening centre and more comfortable shopping environment.
“There are a lot of changes which are all designed to benefit the customer,” Mr Hardy said.
Mitre 10 Mega national marketing manager Jeff Rogut said the refurbishment of the Pakenham store would bring enormous benefits to the area as a whole.
“A full kitchen and bathroom centre will operate out of the Pakenham store and allow customers to purchase a complete package in just one visit,” Mr Rogut said.
He added the new paint department would also offer a wider range of brands and products and there would be a large range of barbecues and outdoor furniture.
