FUTURE prep students at Tooradin Primary School were invited to grin and bear it at a recent feast for them and their teddies.
A teddy bears’ picnic with current prep students took place at the school on Wednesday, 26 July as part of a transition program to ease the children into primary education.
The children brought their own teddies to school to join in activities and tuck into a special banquet.
Prep teacher Rachel Davis said the day went really well, with the future students mixing well with those already at the school. “They had a fantastic day and settled in beautifully,” she said. “It was a chance for them to understand what the school is about and get them feeling comfortable about the school experience.”
Further transition events over the coming months will include sports activities, library and arts exercises, a music session and a half day as a prep student.
During the day, which also offered parents a chance to look around the premises with the school captains, the kids got to sing bear songs, hear teddy stories and even ice their own bear biscuits.
Ms Davis said a good feast was had by all, leaving the kids as stuffed as their soft toy companions at the end of the day.
Tooradin Primary School is currently accepting enrolments for 2007 and welcomes parents and children to visit the school.
