A COCKATOO man died at his home on Monday night after being hit by a tree branch.
The man, aged in his mid 70s, was felling a large eucalypt tree with the help of family on his property in Paternoster Road when the incident happened shortly after 7pm.
Another family member aged 29 was also injured and taken to The Alfred hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.
Police, ambulance, CFA and Emerald SES were among the emergency services that attended the scene. WorkSafe officials attended the scene but are not continuing investigations into the incident because it didn’t occur in a workplace.
Police are preparing a report for the state coroner.
