Maslen appearing at VCAT

THE man behind moves to establish a private motorsports facility on the outskirts of Pakenham is determined to prove his critics wrong.
Wayne Maslen is today to appear at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, where he said he would seek more time to finetune his application before a decision early next year.
Mr Maslen wants to build a motorcross track and associated facilities in Kooweerup Road but has failed to attract support from Cardinia Shire Council for his proposal.
Council voted recently not to back Mr Maslen’s application at VCAT, saying he had failed to provide adequate information in support of his case.
Mr Maslen responded last week by saying he did not believe any councillors — with the exception of Cr Bill Ronald — supported motorsports in the area.
“They are talking hot air, Bill Ronald is the only councillor who is genuine about motorsports,” Mr Maslen said.
Councillors had argued they support the construction of a motorsports facility in the area, and that they had given Mr Maslen, who took his application to VCAT claiming council had failed to make a decision within the prescribed time, plenty of opportunities to state his case.
