IT was a mixed day for Garfield Bowling Club pennant men’s games on Saturday with a loss in divisiontwo, but wins in division six.

Garfield lost to ladder leaders Longwarry in very fast and windy conditions.
Scores were: Stephen Whyte, Stephen Bassed, Ray Biffin and Tom Cleary lost to R Crane 15 to 28.
Gary Payne, Peter Gallasch, Shane Oliver and Bob Lamport tied with R. McEwan 23 shots each.
Les Pumphrey, Hank Wouters, Colin Carmichael and Frank Prins lost to K. Smith 22 to 24.
The best rink of the day was Colin Mills’ team of Jim Oliver, Stu Robertson and Russell Bruce that defeated G. Marriott 36 to 14.

Both the Garfield divisionsix teams won also on a very windy and wild day.
Division (62) defeated Warragul (6) by 16 shots, to score maximum points.
Bob Hope’s rink was in control all day, whereas Alex Mentiplay survived a late fightback to win by a shot.
Scores were Bob Hope, Laurence Wright, Peter Gallasch and Bill Doherty defeated B. Portingale 27 to 12.
Alex Mentiplay, Geoff Gaskell, Bill Charles and Matthew Smith defeated M. Portelli 24 to 23.
Garfield (63) won a tight game against Trafalgar Park 53 to 45 overall to gain eight points.
Scores were Gordon Beer, Lyn Oliver, Don Knight and Barrie Smith defeated A Smith 31 to 18.
Les Shatwell, Keith Sainsbery, John Rose and Wes Goodman lost to D. Swingler 22 to 27.

Tuesday pennant saw a Garfield’s divisionthree team have a great win over Traralgon, winning all rinks to collect maximum points.
Scores were: Rose Shaw, Joan Garvey, Joan Donovan and Margaret Charles defeated G. Goodwin 23 to 21.
Eleanor Lee, Judy Prentice, Pat Marriott and Fay Carmichael defeated M. Duguid 23 to 18 17.
Lyn Oliver, Bev Sainsbery, Bill Charles and Maureen Lamport lost to D. Lewis 11 to 40.
Saturday ladies pennant was a bad day overall for Garfield ladies, losing to Yallourn by 34 shots.
Scores were: Eleanor Lee, Bev Sainsbery and Maureen Lamport lost to A. Birchall 16 to 33.
Rose Shaw, Joan Garvey and Margaret Charles lost to J. Warney 10 to 27.
